wizard of oz worldview

po-mo! they want to get to a higher being, but in the end there isn't one.
in civics, mr gritter told us that it was representing the economical state that our country was in at the 1896 election. dorthy was a lost farmer. scarecrow was a farmer who needed a brain to figure out what was going on. tin man was the city people who work the machines. lion represents the politicians that need the courage to stand up to the corrupt government. the yellow the brick road represents gold. her shoes are actually silver so together the gold and silver work together... thats beside the point...
but after more careful thought i think that it is actually secular humanism...
secular humanists believe that they are on a journey to better themselves, hence the search for heart, brain, courage...
they also believe there is no god. in the end there wasnt. it was just another person who couldnt do anything for them.
finally, they believe that they are ultimately in control of their lives/fate. dorthy had the power to get home the whole time... her shoes.
